The evaluation yesterday went really well. We met with the speech pathologist and the school psychologist and they administered the full Battelle Developmental Inventory. I was very impressed with some of the things that Luke was asked and answered correctly. One of the questions was, "Why do we wear clothes?" He answered, "Because we can't go to work in our 'jamas." It was cute.
He seemed comfortable, albeit tired, and was focused with a couple of 5 minute breaks to run in the hall.
A question for me was, "Does your child follow a command the first time you ask him?" NO! She said it was a universal 'no'. In two weeks we'll go for the treatment recommendation meeting. I asked if they had a feeling as to how we'd proceed. The answer I received confirmed my gut feelings...no developmental delays. Average if not advanced.
That sweet little guy.
This week is the week of appointments. Tuesday was the evaluation, I have an appointment tomorrow with my NP, Levi has his 12 month well baby visit on Friday.
Next week I'll start off with another job interview. Same agency, different department. When asked, I told them I was comfortable with issuing a urinalysis. The joys of having a degree.

Eval
Today I am taking Luke for an evaluation with a speech pathologist and child psychologist. He had his first developmental screening sometime back in January, I think. We've been referred to the ChildFind program. Yesterday he drew a picture for me of an octopus with 4 legs. They noted on the screening that he couldn't draw lines in January. Maybe he didn't want to. Either way, kids develop at different rates and I'm looking forward/ scared as hell to the results of this appointment.
I know that whatever they offer, we could benefit from, but at the same time I think he's fine. I guess it's a mama thing. I'm sitting here and my desktop background is of my sweet dude. It sucks to think that if he's behind at all that it might be my fault. That might be illogical, but it's how I feel.

So, I got inspired to restart this blog and forgot about it until SubMat herself asked. Not that it's been that long since the last post, but a lot has happened in my life since that fateful day, 2ish weeks ago.
I graduated from college! That's right. Future social worker up in here. Holla! I finished the last of my little baby intern hours at the DV shelter and turned in the last of my paperwork. What a good feeling to come home and not have any other obligations. Speaking of obligations, Levi is turning 1 tomorrow. I'm celebrating by going out with the girls. He should be in bed by the time I leave, so I shouldn't feel guilty...but I do. We're having the real party at the inlaws this weekend.
Next, Little dude had surgery to remove his adenoids and granulation tissue around his P.E. tubes last week. He's just about recovered from that, however, his breath...that sweet little mouth that I would put my nose up to when he was 2 months old because it smelled so babylicious is gone! Instead, it's like he's got 'old man who eats garlic and garbage twice a day to ward off evil spirits and heart attack' breath.
For my next DIY project, I will attempt to brush his mouth with something the will remedy the stank. I also plan on vacuuming and putting the weeks laundry that's piled on the double chair away.

DIY decorating
Ok, so lately I've been looking at all of these frugal design, diy decorating websites. Some of the fun things that I've discovered are how to make roman shades out of miniblinds, how to make twine balls, you can mod podge ANYTHING, how to make a frame for a builder grade mirror, and that I need more money to be frugal.
Also, if you didn't know paint your things white because white is in. Paint everything white because it looks crisp and clean. Color looks out of place in a white room, so donate or re-purpose your colored items by making them different shades of white. I like white, so I'm not dissing it. I'm just saying it isn't a practical option for those of use with children or who have acquired more of their home furnishing via rummage sales and Target clearance end caps. Oh, and don't forget that time when we were home decorating and would hit up Hobby Lobby for cute decorative things only to realize that we aren't decoraters if we are buying all brown things.
I used to feel crafty and like I did a good job at decorating my house. Not since the frugal decorating world has exploded on blogspot and in my heart. I have brown dune colored walls that stop at an orange kitchen. I've always liked it until I found that my color chi may be off. It doesn't "flow". Oh well. It makes me happy.
This blog doesn't have a purpose, but maybe I can use it to enter sweepstakes on blogs of people who can tell me what I need to spray paint white.
